Today Walt Hutchins is an anointed and gifted singer songwriter. He was raised in a large family in Cincinnati, Ohio with and absent father and a mother who, though she did her best, battled alcoholism all her life. At a very young age he found solace and peace in music. As he grew he was in a variety of neighborhood vocal groups and preformed at talent shows. He always had a strong belief in God, though the faith was lacking that he could have relationship with Him. When Walt became a teenager he began to play around with alcohol and experiment with drugs. He was quickly addicted and it began to destroy his life. It cost him everything he held dear, his scholarship, his vocal career, and even his family. In 1980 while a member of the US Navy, he had lost all hope, and was on the verge of suicide when he made a desperate call to God and felt Him touch his life. He clearly heard God at that time tell him to feed His sheep. Though he did not really want to, he told God that he would do it if God would change his life and his heart. In 1981 he moved to Australia where he married . He found a full Gospel church where he was able to grow. God opened a door for him to sing with a group of talented musicians and they were soon performing in one of Adelaide's top nightclubs. God's light shone through Walt even in the darkness of the club, and within a short period of time one by one the members of the band were saved. Even though his reputation as a singer was growing and he was recognized from television performances, God began doing a different work in Walt's life, and he knew his season as a secular singer was over. He returned to the United States in 1984 and re-enlisted in the Navy. He and his wife traveled with his career and sort out full Gospel churches where they were and feed on the word and grew. God lead them to their church home at Christian Life Center of San Diego.
