Product Notes
The most popular of five motion pictures lensed by artist David Hamilton. It is the haunting story of Bilitis (Patricia d'Arbanville), a young school girl who looks forward to the end of the term to begin a very special summer. She falls in love with Lucas (Bernard Girauadeau), a photographer who comes to take pictures of a school concert. Her romantic, simplistic love for him is juxtaposed with the ambiguity and strangeness of an encounter she has with Melissa (Mona Kristensen), whom she loves differently. Bilitis is swept up in a sea of emotions, loving two people at the same time... and Melissa loves Bilitis and Lucas....and Lucas loves Melissa and Bilitis....but who can say whom each of them loves most of all? Hamilton's cinematography is exquisite, dreamy and romantic, very much like his still photography. The soundtrack music by Francis Lai is one of the crown jewels of the composer's portfolio. This version is dubbed in English with English and Chinese subtitles.
