Life with Father is a 1947 American comedy which tells the true story of Clarence Day, a stockbroker who wants to be master of his home, but finds his wife and his children ignoring him, until they start making demands for him to change his personal life by being baptized to avoid going to Hell. The film stars William Powell and Irene Dunne as Clarence and his wife. Also, starring Elizabeth Taylor as a beautiful teenage girl with whom Clarence's oldest son becomes infatuated. This movie is beautifully filmed with buildings and decor and costume design pertinent to the Victorian era in America. You will thoroughly enjoy the comedic moments as well as the sweet, sentimental scenes in this film. It is a real treasure! This is a beautifully told story of life in America in the 19th century. Full of humor, comedy, and very touching moments, it is a film which has withstood the test of time. (115 minutes - 1947 - Color - 4:3)
