Product Notes
The English village mystery gets a contemporary spin in this hit British television series that has earned a worldwide following. Bucolic settings harbor macabre crimes and eccentric characters that are no match for nice-guy detective Tom Barnaby (John Nettles, BERGERAC) and his assistant, Detective Sergeant Ben Jones (Jason Hughes, THIS LIFE). Delightful in a murderously charming way (Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy). Guest stars include Peter Davison, Philip Jackson, Jenny Agutter, Susannah Harker, Alice Krige, and Olivia Colman. THE MYSTERIES (original UK broadcast order) the Dogleg Murders - Members of a swanky golf club keep turning up dead by the 13th hole. The Black Book - a local art auction precipitates a string of savage murders. Secrets and Spies - a mysterious creature is killing sheep, but it soon moves on to larger prey. The Glitch - a scientist's determination to stop a business venture has fatal repercussions. Small Mercies - Little Worthing's tourism trade rests on it's model village - until a dead body disfigures it. The Creeper - a cat burglar's robberies expose a family's dark secrets. The Great and the Good - the possible closing of a village school leads to murder.
