Product Notes
Moby Dick, the timeless tale of obsession and revenge based on the classic novel by Herman Melville, is brought to the screen by famed director John Huston (The African Queen, Chinatown, The Asphalt Jungle) from a screenplay co-written by Huston and Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes). Gregory Peck (To Kill a Mockingbird, Spellbound, Roman Holiday) plays the embittered and scarred Captain Ahab, a man hellbent on hunting down and killing the great white whale responsible for the loss of his leg. Richard Basehart (TV's Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Fourteen Hours, Decision Before Dawn) is Ishmael, a green hand who joins the Pequod unaware of the true dangers that lie ahead. The supporting cast includes Orson Welles (Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil, The Lady from Shanghai), Leo Genn (Quo Vadis, The Snake Pit, Ten Little Indians) and James Robertson Justice (The Guns of Navarone, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Murder She Said) with photography by Oswald Morris (Fiddler on the Roof, The Man Who Would Be King, Oliver!). This release features both the newly colorized version as well as the original muted color edition.
