Product Notes

Return To Tromb is a Midi-Trombone / Electric Guitar based Fusion Group based in Southern California, having appeared at clubs such as the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, the former Palamino in North Hollywood, and the Ice House in Pasadena in the early nineties. Core members include Roger Abas , a North Texas State Graduate with new ideas for the Trombone, still rooted in hard bebop roots and history, but more influenced by the rock generation he grew up in. This approach involves adding electronic Midi-effects right behind the traditional full sound of a tenor Trombone and flank himself luckily with a great band with some gifted and experienced Shreveport LA area musicians Mark Griffith on Guitar and Jay Davis On Bass. This Brings a Hard Hitting Jam on 3 of the cuts, with Brilliant Guitar Solo's from Mark and one from Experienced Session and ex Rod Stewart Bassist, Jay Davis. Ed Sanchez Lays down some tasty groves with a nice percussive mix with Dain Nelson on Conga. Roger was inspired by the Group 'The Police' and wrote the moody 'Roads Often Travelled' as a reggae-pop tune for trombone. Every Song is Fresh and Original with Excellent solo's on Electric Guitar, Tenor-Sax, and Trombone. The group disbanded in 1991 but is back in contact and working on a possible new CD and material for a Return to Tromb II release some time next year. Original Cover and CD illustration by childhood friend Stan Grant Illustrates the Electronic Future and Past of a Roger-Masked Midi/Trombone looking over a Cartoonish Landscape that reflects the Musics Imaginary Qualities. grant4art.com.
