Product Notes
Deep in the Ozarks, wrestling promoter Ed Hatch comes up with a great idea: pit his muscle-bound meathead of a wrestler against the local blacksmith, an Amazon named Sadie. Think of the publicity! Think of the ticket sales! This is the break Ed's been waiting for - until the wrestler loses his heart to the blacksmith and refuses to slam his ladylove into the canvas. In a real change-of-pace role, Bogart plays Ed in backwoods comedy chockablock with physical humor. Nat Pendleton (The Thin Man), who won a silver medal for wrestling in the 1920 Olympics, plays Ed's burly protege, and Louise Fazenda (Tille's Punctured Romance) portrays the blacksmith. Fazenda started her illustrious career as a screen comedienne in 1912 and was long married to Warner Bros. Producer Hal B. Wallis (Casablanca). Look for Ronald Reagan, who had been a sportscaster for a radio station in Iowa, as a big-city sportswriter.
