Product Notes

Terence O'Flaherty is a native of Ennistymon, Co Clare, but emigrated to London in 1971 at the age of sixteen. I first met Terence in spring 1978 when another Clareman, Brendan Mulkere, sent me off with my bouzouki and three chords to audition for a band called Crusheen. In any case I must have passed the audition as I then spent a very enjoyable couple of years touring the pubs of Kilburn, Holloway, Shepherd's Bush, Acton and other London hot spots with Terence and the other band members, Chris Hayes, Joe Searson and Kevin Shanahan. In the years since then Terence and myself have crossed paths from time to time and the only thing that has never changed has been that great, unique, voice of his. He agreed to do some recording back in 1997 but the project then got lost in amongst other life events for a number of years. We eventually blew the dust off the original tapes earlier this year and added a few more songs to create Crosscurrents, a combination of original and traditional songs. We hope that you enjoy the music - and that it doesn't take you as long to get through it as it took us! Michael Garry October 2006.
