The Woman in White

On foot to the 19th-century North England manor where his services have been retained, art tutor Walter Hartright (Gig Young) made the fleeting acquaintance of a nervous, white-clad young lady (Eleanor Parker) who vanished as abruptly as she appeared. At his destination, he discovers that his new charge (Parker, again) is the image of the woman he encountered. As he develops feelings for his pupil, he also starts to sense that certain members of the eccentric household are conspiring to cause her harm.
