Product Notes

Winston Hall's background leaves no question as to his musical influence and ultimate destiny. While studying to become a journalist in Texas, he moonlighted as a piano bar entertainer. He soon discovered this to be his greater passion and spent the next few years traveling the country as a jazz musician with the legendary Shanks Brothers. For years, he scraped by playing on street corners, in shady back-alley dives, and anywhere he could play. After disappointing stints in San Antonio and Nashville, Winston was all but ready to abandon his piano for ever. Soon, the tide of fortune turned his way. After landing in Shreveport, Louisiana, he took a lower level job in the film industry. The legend goes that one night, while sharing a beer with acting legend Ted Danson, Danson encouraged Winston to pursue his truest passion, that of music, and steer away from a career in acting. Heeding Danson's advice, and through some new-found connections, Winston found the owner of a local recording studio set back in the woods outside of Bossier City. There, Winston finally recorded the songs he'd always wanted to record. The result was his first self-titled EP, and the genesis of what many believe will be a legendary career. His stylings mimic the great artists that inspired him like Billy Joel and Ray Charles, but Hall combines their influence with his own soul and creates a style uniquely his own. His lyrics examine his own struggles in show business, his nights in smoke-filled blues bars, and the revelations he has learned sitting behind a piano almost his whole life. Backed by the legendary Shanks Brothers, Hall's show is an entertaining, energetic display of rock, soul, and even a few laughs. He has pleased audiences from San Angelo to San Antonio, Austin to New Orleans, and Gatesville to Nashville. Winston Hall, the Original Soul Man, just may well be the next great piano man of our generation.
