Product Notes

Formed in 1998 by Jez, Angelwhore is a bitter invective against apathy and worthlessness. Following some intense early gigs, Angelwhore quickly rose to prominence on the underground scene. The band was snapped up by Casket in late November 2000, and the debut EP 'Superman' has been well-recieved across Europe, with Metal Hammer and Italy's Psycho! Magazines putting tracks on their covermount CD's last year. Standout track 'Cut' graced the CD of Metal Hammer too, as part of the nominations for Britains best unsigned artist. 'Superman,' currently their signature track, is an excellent track and nothing more than a complete blitzkreig. The march of the army symbolized by lyrics of differentiation, and egotistical arrogance such as 'While I create, you masturbate' suddenly shifts into complete destruction. 'I am Superman / I am not what I am / ... And I hate everyone / And I hate....' The 'Speeding Bullet Mix' of 'Superman' is a lot more dancefloor friendly, in every sense, and is actually one of the few remixes I've ever liked and it should do well in the clubs. 'Victim' is perhaps my favorite track on the single. Constant shifts, a driving beat, hammering guitars, and a hundred CCs of adrenaline, you should see this performed live. Jez has a thing about getting the crowd into the show as much as possible, to the point that he'll fly off stage, grab someone and scream into the microphone and their face at the same time, usually scaring the hell outta' the audience member in question, especially considering that with boots, he's close to seven feet tall. 'Cut' takes the band in a different direction, beginning quite slow and somber throughout much of the song, and generally just quite gloomy and depressing. 'Nausea' is a ten-minute experimental epic that further demonstrates the band's versatility, shifting into pure noise midway.
